Solar thermal provides cost-effective hot water solutions
Solar hot water systems are the most efficient and economical solar systems on the market today. A typical residential solar water-heating system reduces the need for conventional water heating by as much as two-thirds. It minimizes the expense of electricity or fossil fuel to heat water and reduces the associated environmental impacts of using these non-renewable fuels.
In general a solar thermal system will easily heat water to 140ºF or higher matching the range of its traditional water heater. Solar thermal systems vary from one installation to another, therefore it’s design is critical for performance.
A solar domestic hot water system is typically smaller is size and about half the cost of a space heat assist package. There are usually two to three smaller collectors and a smaller storage tank next to your existing water heater. The solar solution is circulated through the collectors and the heat is transferred to the storage tank of potable water. This stored water is used to feed your existing water heater thereby reducing the need for your water heater to fire up.
With federal, state and local incentives it has never been a better time to go solar than now.
