These government incentive programs are likely to change or even go away in the future, so locking in these great incentives now is the best way to go green and possibly become free your home or business from fossil fuels. All three incentives are available to residents and businesses.

FEDERAL INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT

Owners of solar and wind energy systems are eligible for a tax credit of 26% of the system’s cost towards their federal income taxes. Some storage projects and building improvements may also be applied to the credit.

RENEWABLE ENERGY CREDITS

The state of Illinois will pay you for the amount of energy you are expected to generate. The payment amount is based on the size and efficiency of your system. Many other states have similar programs.

NET-METERING

Laws in Illinois and other states require electric utilities to give you 1 for 1 energy credits when your PV system is producing more energy than you are using. At night and on rainy days, you will use these credits instead of buying electricity.

Grants

Grants are available for Schools, Non-Profits, and Local Businesses.

Financing

Solutions for homeowners range from government backed mortgages and HELOC’s to green loans. Along with traditional financing, businesses may be able to take advantage of non-recourse PACE financing.
